The book is so pretty, I can't wait too read it properly but that will have to wait as its 36ish days till my first exam!
I also got an armature as I wanted to have a go at 3D and more realistic animating for quite a while
It comes in a film canister!
I decided to put it together because it was too exciting to wait till after my exams! so I started by laying out all the pieces.

I put most of it together and I found out one of the pieces was missing the threaded bit in the hole so could finish putting together yet... perhaps something is telling me to to more revising?

I thought it was about time to address Some of the basic principles of animation. There are 12 basic principles of animation. Such as timing, In the other animations I have made I haven't thought about real life timings I just decided what to do and did it with little planning. However timing is essential to make an animation more engaging. so I have had a go at..
squash and stretch -ball bouncing
ball drop
ball rolling
ball down stairs
balloon down stairs/falling from sky
car accelerating/stopping.
I know that some of these are far from perfect however I am quite pleased with how some of these turned out for my first attempt. practise makes perfect. (384 frames.)
Okay so as of today it has been a whole year since I uploaded my first stop motion animation to you tube. In that time I have.

Realised that I have a passion for stop motion animation and it is what I would like to do in the future.
I felt this was a good excuse to by myself an armature! (now to wait for the postman)
also I hope to apply to university in 2015 to study animation so for the year in-between I hope to get a job and improve my skills (maybe move away from paper animation) and portfolio but who knows anything can happen.
It is the 3rd 48 hour of the year for Gads Hills Besty Award. the theme this time is a 1 minute film "to get something of your chest". I have to be honest I was totally stuck for ideas. However as an avid tea drinker I often find my self in a conversation with others about how to make a cup of tea the correct way. milk in first or not??
So I decided to make this based on the conmen arguments of milk in first or not.
I would like to make it cleat that although it is a 48 hour competition and that there is only 48 hours in which to make the film and up load it in that,I have constantly found my self not making it till at least the next morning after the theme being released, on top of that this time I went to school for a good 6 hours for revision and had an hour long driving lesson and I couldn't finish it the next morning as I had a course to go to. This was a lot of time I could have been making an animation in.
I like the idea I had. this was a very quick storyboard I drew.
It is on its side but you get the idea it was very quick and brief and a fair bit never happened!!
After getting back from my driving lesson I spent a good 3 hours making the card props and a silly amount of time working out how to draw a milk carton that was open.

However I do quite like them and there is no point in spending ages in animated something that doesnt look quite right and Im not 100% happy with!!
I proceceded to take the photoes in an 1hr and a half. I could have taken longer and make it oother but I only had a minute to fill and it wass getting late.
I had to rehoot the entier water pouring scene as i left my sisors in the Shot!!!
I wont be making that mistake in a hurry!!!
In the final piece some of the word move too quick to read and I know that, it is really annoying!!!!
however being positive I am really pleased with the tissue paper for the pouring of the water and the milk I think it was really effective and i will be trying it again at Some point!!!
I also really like the being bit with it bieng like a search on a computer
After seeing a few adverts were it gave the impression of being cut out of paper and being a 3D pop-up book I decided I wanted to have a go at making a stop motion this way. As I mentioned before I find it very difficult making an animation with out I time limit. So I decided I would do it for my AS media Studies production piece.
I soon learn that it is not a good Idea to change what brief you are doing after working on the first one for nearly 3 months.
I choice three counties to make it based on and wanted to make three, 40 second long animations. I soon found found this was near impossible with the amount of time I took to make the book it self and to actually take the pictures. I decided to just do Australia and England as I never got around to making the last three pages.
I came across may difficulties:
having the camera at the correct hight as the pages open
Having all the page in shot
doing a smooth panning shot with out a devise to have it one
blue tack will not always stop gravity from making your fish fall out of the sky
you cannot rub out pen so think care fall about the order the pictures will be taken in
lighting will forever be a problem when working on a tiny desk in my room
spelling a big problem as it has happens twice now I still do not know how I managed to spell edition addition and not notice whilst staring at if for a good 10 minutes.
Time...
to name a few however after regretting choosing to do a project as complicated as it was in terms of planning (I will attach my simple storyboards at some point) and time wise I was quite pleased with how it turned out.

I have to say I very much prefer The finished look of Australia because I spent more time on it and had more of an Idea what was going to happen. However I do like the interaction between animation and animator with the cup of tea.

However it is all done and I can certainly say that I have learnt a lot from it!!!
